When the concept of mandatory "volunteer" work became a requirement for graduation in many California high schools, the writing was on the wall. Kids have to provide, in some cases, up to thirty hours of uncompensated time in order to receive their diploma.
And now this.
I know its been out for a week or so floating around in the blogosphere, but I had to digest it, and actually get my emotions back under control.
Say hello to Slavery!
"To require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security,"
And, guess what? The draft is back.....
"to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes".
Your daughter, wife or sister gets to be shipped off somewhere now too...
SEC. 201. REGISTRATION OF FEMALES.
(a) Registration Required- Section 3(a) of the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. 453(a)) is amended--
(1) by striking ‘male’ both places it appears;
(2) by inserting ‘or herself’ after ‘himself’; and
(3) by striking ‘he’ and inserting ‘the person’.
(b) Conforming Amendment- Section 16(a) of the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 466(a)) is amended by striking ‘men’ and inserting ‘persons’.
If they aren't acceptable for military service, I'm sure they'll enjoy time in such garden spots as Haiti (the world has apparently forgotten about the earthquake, guess it just isn't sexy enough for politicians and the corporate media anymore), or cleaning up toxic spills like BP's mess down in the gulf. Years later, when they develop cancer or other problems, I'm sure ObamaCare will be right there to hand them an aspirin and a band-aid.
Of course, there's an out for all the little penis tugging friends of those in power:
SEC. 107. DEFERMENTS AND POSTPONEMENTS.
(c) Training Capacity- The President may postpone or suspend the induction of persons for military service under this title as necessary to limit the number of persons receiving basic military training and education to the maximum number that can be adequately trained.
Completely, and totally arbitrary. Actually, maybe it will depend on campaign contributions.
Oh, what do you want to bet they'll use this next section to forcibly medicate people, and take away their ability to own guns?
SEC. 108. INDUCTION EXEMPTIONS.
(a) Qualifications- No person may be inducted for military service under this title unless the person is acceptable to the Secretary concerned for training and meets the same health and physical qualifications applicable under section 505 of title 10, United States Code, to persons seeking original enlistment in a regular component of the Armed Forces.
I'm really getting sick of this shit. I want my country back, and I damn well mean to take it. If you're an elected "representative", an appointed bureaucrat, or even the damned president, fuck you, and fuck whatever horse you rode in on. You ain't an American, and you don't belong here.
